MIAMI (AP) - The mother of a Florida teenager who was set on
fire says her son is focused on recovering despite intense pain.
Valerie Brewer said Wednesday that her 15 year old son Michael
is doing better than expected following the Oct. 12 attack.
Police say five of Michael's classmates doused him with rubbing
alcohol and set him ablaze, burning 65 percent of his body.
His mother says doctors at a Miami hospital initially told her
that Michael would be in the intensive care unit for five months.
But he's doing so well that he was moved to a burn unit after
only five weeks. His first skin graft is scheduled for next week.
She says her son keeps his spirits up by watching TV, playing
video games and listening to rocker Ozzy Osbourne.
