George Mason University Political Analyst Dr. Steven Farnsworth says the republican party has had a rough run over the past few years.
The win is a big motivator to turn on the pressure.
Farnsworth says McDonnell could bode better with voters that past picks like Sarah Palin and Governor Bobby Jindal who both had various personal and professional problems arise. McDonnell could be a strong candidate to be tapped by the GOP for the presidential ticket in 2012.
