A program to help veterans get back into the civilian workforce will continue thanks to more than $1 million in federal money. Virginia is on of 14 states to get money for job training from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Grindly Johnson says VDOT will hire up to 18 more veterans as part of the program. The partnership with VDOT teaches the once warriors a new job skill for 6 months to 2 years. They also get help with everything from resume writing to job interviewing tips. It is designed as a stepping stone and started in 2006.
