NY man faces Internet porn charges

A man from Upstate New York has been arrested after he allegedly solicited sex online from a Dumfries Police Department investigator posing as 13-year-old boy.

Authorities say the investigation began in November when 18-year-old Steve Valder Junior of Montezuma made contact with the officer and allegedly distributed several images of child pornography and admitted to having past sexual relationships with minors.

Working with the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office, investigators confirmed one of those relationships, arrested Valder and seized his computer with more than 1,000 images of child pornography. Authorities also report that Valder admitted to sexually molesting three juveniles in the Montezuma area.

He is being held On $20,000 bond in Cayuga County on a charge of Criminal Sexual Act 1st Degree.

Dumfries police will also seek the extradition of Valder on charges of distribution of child pornography and other Internet related crimes here in Virginia.
